Monkey Fact Monday: Emperor Tamarin!

Nq1eex
Hey monkeys, Cade77 here with a Monkey Fact Monday post!

505px-Baby_tamarin_2 Today we will look at the Emperor Tamarin (Manx mentioned them a few weeks ago)! The Emperor Tamarin can be found in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil. These are regions where there are rain forests for them to live in.

It is a little monkey and weighs less than a pound! The fur on the body is gray with a little bit of yellow on the chest fur. Their hands and feet are black and the tail is brown. On their face it looks like they have a mustache that is white!

As Manx pointed out earlier, the mustache is why the Emporer Tamarin has its name - because it looks like a certain German emperor who was named Wilhelm II!

Like many other monkeys, Emporer Tamarins will groom each other, picking bugs out of fur and such. This grooming is a way the members of the group can remain closely bonded with each other.

They also seem to have their own language, with different cries to talk to one another. They like to eat nectar from flowers, bugs, tree sap, and different fruits. These monkeys live up to twenty-four years in the wild! I think they are pretty awesome!

Thanks for reading, monkeys!
